What our families tell us
Huang Mei-Lan
Xitun District, Taichung
"My mother was quite guarded about having anyone come into her home. The aide from Clearbrook was so patient during the first few visits β she never pushed, just showed up and was present. Within two weeks, my mother was looking forward to her afternoons."
Afternoon Companion Visit Β· February 2026
Chen Tsung-Wei
North District, Taichung
"After my father's hip surgery, we were worried about him managing at home. The recovery service gave us something to hold onto. The aide was professional and genuinely seemed to care whether he was progressing β not just going through the motions."
Post-Hospital Recovery Support Β· January 2026
Lin Yu-Chun
West District, Taichung
"The Comprehensive Plan was a bigger commitment, but we needed something thorough. The care manager keeps us genuinely informed β not just polite summaries. When something changes, we hear about it. The communication has been far better than we expected."

"I was living overseas and feeling very guilty about my grandmother's situation. Starting the Afternoon Visit service gave me real peace of mind. She had someone there, and I had someone I could actually speak to and get honest answers from."
Afternoon Companion Visit Β· December 2025
Tsai Hsiu-Ping

"My father is quite particular. He had tried other arrangements before and they never stuck. Clearbrook took the time to understand his habits before assigning anyone. The match was thoughtful β and it showed within the first week."
Afternoon Companion Visit Β· January 2026
Shen Yi-Hsuan
Central District, Taichung
"The recovery support after my mother's procedure was structured in a way that felt right β not clinical, not rushed. We were part of the decisions throughout. I think the thing that stood out most was that nobody assumed they knew better than us what Mum needed."

Care stories that shaped our practice
Mr. Chang, 79 β Xitun District
After his wife passed, Mr. Chang became increasingly withdrawn. His son, working in Taipei, had limited ability to visit and was concerned about both his father's safety and his emotional state.
We began with twice-weekly afternoon visits β not focused on tasks, but on re-establishing routine and conversation. The aide spent time on his interests (local history, Go) before any practical help was introduced.
Over three months, Mr. Chang resumed regular community walks, improved his appetite, and began looking forward to visits. His son reported that calls home became noticeably different β his father was engaged again.
Mrs. Liao, 83 β North District
Mrs. Liao returned home after knee replacement surgery. Her family was present but juggling work schedules. The hospital discharge plan was detailed, but they felt unsure about implementing it correctly.
Our recovery aide reviewed the discharge notes with the family before the first visit. A practical home routine was built around the physician's mobility instructions, medication schedule, and dietary guidance.
Mrs. Liao was fully ambulatory without assistance by week six β one week ahead of the physiotherapist's estimate. No adverse incidents during the recovery period. The family's own confidence handling her care also increased noticeably.
Mr. & Mrs. Wu, 77 and 81 β West District
An elderly couple with differing health needs but a strong preference to remain together at home. Their daughter, the primary carer, was approaching burnout managing both parents' needs alongside her own family.
We designed a Comprehensive Plan that addressed both individuals within a single coordinated daily schedule. The care manager met regularly with the daughter to separate what she was doing out of obligation versus preference, and adjusted our scope accordingly.
Eighteen months on, the couple remain at home. Their daughter describes the arrangement as "the thing that made everything else manageable." She continues to be involved in their care β but on her own terms, not out of necessity.
